ROCC Hammerheads Swim Team Info
Below is a re-cap of Peron’s Parent Meeting at the Kick Off Party:
TRY OUTS: All swimmers must be able to swim one lap of the pool, unassisted. Try-outs will be held the first week during practices. New swimmers and those under 8 must jump into the pool and swim to the end to be able to be on the team. If you have already paid for a swimmer and they are not able to swim one lap of the pool, we will refund your money.
REFUNDS: All refund requests must be done in writing to Steve Trese ([email protected]) by Monday June 4, 2018. No refunds will be given after that date.
CHAMPS: There is only ONE Champs meet this season!!! There will not be a Finals meet the next day. The top finishers at the Champs meet will receive medals & ribbons. All swimmers are expected to participate in the Champs meet on July 9th at Loos Natatorium. Last year we had 168 swimmers on the team and only 77 participated in Champs. That is less than half of the team. Let’s see if we can make Peron proud this year and have more swimmers participate!
BANQUET: Those swimmers that attend the Banquet on Thursday July 12th will receive a trophy and any other ribbons and medals they have earned!
VOLUNTEERS: Each swim team family is required to work two volunteer shifts. The only way our swim team works is if EVERYONE helps out. If your child does not attend any swim meets, you are still required to work two shifts. If you do not work two shifts, you will be fined $100 at the end of the season. This $100 fine goes towards hiring life guards to help out at the meets when we are short volunteers.
If you find that all the shifts are full for volunteers for a particular swim meet, still check in with the Volunteer Coordinators Anne & Kathleen. They ALWAYS need help as many forget or do not show up for their shifts. If you sign up and do not work your shift, you do not get credit. You must work a shift to get credit for it. Please help Anne & Kathleen by checking in BEFORE the meet begins, and show up ON TIME for your shift.
SWIM MEET SIGN-UPS: Log onto the Swimtopia website to sign your swimmer up! (royaloaks.swimtopia.com) If you do not sign up your swimmer by the deadline, your swimmer will not be allowed to swim in the meet.
WEBSITE: The Hammerheads website is royaloaks.swimtopia.com. Here you will find information, meet sign-ups and much more! There is also an app that you can download to your smartphone to view what you have signed up for.
PRACTICES: Practices begin next week starting Tuesday May 29th. All practice times are listed on the website!
If you have not registered for swim team yet, please do so ASAP! If you have not signed-up yet, emails will only be sent to those current swim team members starting next week.
